And it has a name!
This team has been working tirelessly every Wednesday afternoon to figure out what they’re going to do. There’s been a lot of questions to answer: How’s it going to move? What’s it going to look like? What are we going to name it?
They’ve been troopers, and I’ve tried to stay out of it as much as possible, because (like I keep reminding myself) this is their project, not mine. And it’s coming out awesome. It will be some sort of floating egg thing, with a couple of motors around it, and the batteries, computer, and camera slung on the bottom. We’re thinking some sort of Rip-Stop nylon shell, wrapped around a couple of balloons (I purchased some small weather balloons for trials), and everything else attached to a frame made of carbon fiber rods.
So now, comes the hands-on portion of our experiment, putting this thing together. This is the exciting bit.
Oh, and they named it F.E.E.R.S.E – Flying Eagle Eyed Robotic Spy Egg. I’m still not sure exactly what it will look like, but judging by the conversation a couple of weeks ago, I’m pretty sure it will have a monocle and a handlebar mustache.
